Reporting to an Editor, the individual in this role will work closely with one or more Product Marketing Managers, Designers, SEO Specialists, the Director of Content, and other teammates to produce helpful, SEO-friendly content that moves people to act. They will conduct research on topics, draft content, go through the editing and approval process, and prepare copy that is ready to be published on our sites and blogs, in videos, emails, ads, and beyond. They will proactively manage a runway of content needs. They may occasionally be drafted to help in other areas, too.

Essential Functions
  • Demonstrates our core values -- Humble, Hungry, Smart, and Proactive -- in the course of day-to-day work.
  • Research, develop, and write copy for various forms of content, including web pages, blog articles, email, advertisements, video scripts, e-books, case studies, Q&A, customer spotlights, calls to action (CTAs), and so on.
  • Attend and participate in meetings around content strategy, brainstorming, optimization, and more.
  • Attend and participate in annual Marketing Department offsite and bi-monthly team builders.
  • Manage multiple priorities and deadlines within 2-week sprints to ensure content requests are fulfilled in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with product marketing managers, creatives, SEO, designers, and other teammates to conceptualize, create, and publish compelling copy that drives our audience to act.
  • Build a strong understanding of effective SEO content marketing and its best practices.
  • Edit and proof copy to ensure it is error free and aligns with the brand voice, point of view, and style of various insurance products.
  • Adapt writing style to various audiences and build a strong understanding of specific target audiences and customer personas.
  • Complete required insurance product training and stay up to date on our product offerings.
  • Incorporate feedback and edits into content.
  • Effectively optimize content for search, conversions, and user navigation.
  • Request creative assets (e.g., preferred stock imagery, original graphics, infographics, etc.)
  • Accurately input, format, and publish blog posts in WordPress.
  • Participate in peer editing and Content Team initiatives, including special projects or “all hands” content needs.
  • Conduct research internally and with customers as needed.
  • Perform research and collect and analyze data using GA4, Search Console, Semrush, Ahrefs, and other tools.
  • Develop content for other sites (e.g., guest posts) and partners
  • Use office software (MS Office, Google Workspace, Monday, etc.) effectively and efficiently to collaborate on and manage and create content.
  • When assigned, conduct outreach to third parties to gain interest in backlinking to articles and other content.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

What You Need to Succeed
 
  • A creative mindset and ability to implement best practices for various types of content (blogs, web pages, landing pages, CTAs, social posts, emails, videos, and so on)
  • Strong research skills and ability to quickly understand complex topics
  • Ability to develop original content that resonates with our target audiences
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and WordPress
  • Working knowledge of SEO and project management software (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of Google Analytics (GA4) and Search Console (preferred)
  • Experience using WordPress or other content management systems (CMS)
  • Knowledge of AP Style guidelines (or willing/able to learn)
  • Willingness to learn the world of insurance and insurance marketing

Required Skills and Experience
 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 3-4 years’ experience copywriting (SEO copywriting or content marketing experience strongly preferred)
  • Strong portfolio of writing samples and completed projects that demonstrate good SEO and sounds human
  • History of working in a collaborative team
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills for accuracy, spelling, grammar, style, language, structure, flow, and voice
  • Ability to accurately type 50 wpm or more
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge and experience with content/marketing funnels
  • A mind for metrics and a desire to track success
