Technical Product Owner

Remote
Full Time
Experienced
At Veracity, we aim to be a different kind of insurance partner—one that is free from outside investors, venture capital, or the pressures of a corporate parent.

Ours is a culture of empowerment – one that believes in effort, results, and accountability. We believe that transparency fosters trust, trust fosters growth, and that growth drives innovation. Our commitment to rigorous evaluation and relentless execution lead to rapid evolution.

We answer only to the small business owners we serve, and this independence allows us to stay focused on what matters most: helping their businesses thrive by providing expert guidance and best-in-class insurance policies.

We’re growing fast and want you to be a part of it!

We’re looking for a talented, forward-thinking, and detail-oriented Technical Product Owner to join our team. Under the direction of the Technical Product Owner Manager this role will serve as a strategic liaison between data science teams, AI/ML engineers, underwriters, brokers, risk managers, and executives to identify and deliver AI solutions that streamline commercial insurance workflows – from underwriting to claims. This is a remote role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the product backlog and roadmap for AI initiatives in commercial lines (e.g., property, casualty, liability, marine, workers' comp), translating industry-specific challenges into actionable requirements for intelligent automation and predictive analytics
  • Lead Agile ceremonies (daily standups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, retrospectives) with a focus on building AI-powered tools for risk scoring, quote generation, document processing (e.g., COIs, loss runs), and broker decision support
  • Partner with underwriting and actuarial teams to define AI-driven pricing models and risk segmentation strategies using structured and unstructured data (e.g., submissions, inspection reports, third-party data, telematics, IoT)
  • Integrate AI models into core commercial insurance platforms (e.g., Guidewire, Duck Creek, Applied Epic, AMS360), driving automation in submissions intake, policy issuance, renewals, and endorsements
  • Manage delivery of NLP-based tools for document classification, data extraction from ACORD forms, and submission triage to reduce manual processing time and improve operational efficiency
  • Support the operationalization of AI models in production environments, establishing performance benchmarks, compliance controls, and continuous learning workflows (e.g., retraining pipelines)
  • Collaborate with risk engineering and claims teams to develop predictive models for claim frequency/severity, subrogation likelihood, and fraud detection tailored to commercial exposures
  • Leverage AI to optimize broker/agent-facing tools with intelligent recommendations, quoting assistants, and next-best-action workflows to support distribution and retention
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and evolving regulatory frameworks related to AI, algorithmic decision-making, and data privacy in commercial insurance contexts
  • Required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Business, Insurance, or related field, or equivalent experience required; advanced degrees or AI and Project Management certifications a plus
  • 5+ years of experience as a Technical Product Owner, Product Manager, or Business Analyst in commercial insurance, with 2+ years directly supporting AI/ML initiatives
  • Proven experience delivering AI/ML-driven solutions in commercial insurance domains such as underwriting automation, loss control, claims analytics, or digital broker enablement
  • Strong knowledge of commercial insurance operations, workflows, and key data sources, including property risk characteristics, submission data, COPE information, and loss history
  • Skilled in writing user stories and epics involving AI workflows, such as NLP for submission parsing, predictive models for risk scoring, or ML-enabled triage systems
  • Familiarity with insurance platforms and ecosystems (e.g., Guidewire PolicyCenter, Duck Creek, AMS360, Applied Epic), and their integration with AI tools
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and using tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Miro, or BPMN platforms
  • Understanding of the ethical and regulatory implications of using AI in commercial insurance underwriting and claims decisions (e.g., bias mitigation, model explainability)
  • Experience working with/integrating AI models like Google Cloud, Amazon SageMaker, MS Azure AI, Salesforce Einstein, IBM Watsonx, OpenAI, or DataRobot
Perks
  • Health, dental, and vision plans
  • Amazing work-life balance with 4 weeks of Paid Time Off
  • 9 Paid Company Holidays with 2 floating holidays
  • 401K Programs with employer match
  • Personal assistant programs for support in a healthy personal and work life

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability
Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026
Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
