We’re looking for a talented, detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our team. Under the direction of the Controller this role will be responsible for supervising our accounting staff who handle receivables, payables, and reconciliations, and ensure proper policies and procedures are followed. This is a remote role.

We’re looking for a talented, detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our team. Under the direction of the Controller this role will be responsible for supervising our accounting staff who handle receivables, payables, and reconciliations, and ensure proper policies and procedures are followed. This is a remote role.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support the team workload to ensure the timely and accurate completion of accounting data, tasks, reporting, and projects
- Mentor each direct report by providing the guidance and tools needed to reach their professional development goals
- Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes
- Ensure vendor invoices, statements, and/or expense reports are processed in a timely manner
- Support and help enhance internal controls
- Prepare and assist monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial audit activities and the annual corporate financial controls audit
- Assess current practices and procedures, and make recommendations for improvement
- Develop staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee relationships
- Analyze departmental reports for accuracy & consistency
- Effectively and professionally interact cross functionally with all organizational and management level stakeholders
- Resolve the day-to-day problems presented to the accounting team directly or by providing guidance and support
- Perform banking transactions such as positive pay approvals, wire payments, etc.
- Vigilantly protect the security and confidentiality of financial data
- Ensure team adherence to Accounting, Insurance, and Government standards and regulations
- Handle correspondence via email, phone, mail, etc.
- Required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent experience required
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in full-cycle accounting (AP, AR, Payroll, GL and financial statement preparation/analysis) preferably in a scaling organization
- 3+ years management experience preferred
- Insurance experience preferred
- Proficient in the Office Suite with a heavy emphasis on Excel (VLOOKUP formulas, pivot tables, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail and proven ability to organize data efficiently
- Strong interpersonal skills that facilitate productive and respectful collaboration with others
- Decisive, takes initiative, and works independently with little supervision
